Nova Prime Suit. With Parallel Life Studios. WIP.

Since 2020, I have been working on this beautiful superhero suit, designed by the incredible Raf Grassetti. With his permission, along with Parallel Life Studios, we are bringing it to life. PLS are a FX company based in France, who have worked for film and have all the resources to make the most beautiful costumes. From screen printing, to 3D printing, molding, casting and sewing, they know it all. I had the pleasure of working with them at their workshop for a few days, watching their process as I painted a lot of urethane rubber pieces.

They printed the 3D molds I modeled, post processed and cast the rubber pieces. They also printed some positive pieces like the chest and shoulders, and molded them for urethane casting. The body suit is also theirs, and it is screen printed and sewn with mastery.

The suit is super comfortable to wear, since all the pieces are flexible. The goal is to finish this suit with LEDs, some silicone parts and some rigid pieces as well. In these images you can see a quick mockup of what the suit could end up looking like.

I could not be prouder of this project. I wish to continue with future collaborations with Parallel Life Studios, they are incredible.

I will keep uploading this post as we finish the suit.

Once cast, I painted all of these urethane rubber pieces, using different techniques.

PLS beautiful screen printed fabrics and muscle suits are perfect for the job. They made the undersuit as if it was for film, even with the gold trims cast from my 3D printable molds.

Here you can see how the different flexible pieces stack up on top of each other.

Painting urethane rubber to look like leather was a very rewarding experience. The printed texture on the mold gave me the perfect base to work off of.
