Black Widow LED Batons (2021 version).

Here is my rendition of the intimidating batons from the upcoming movie Black Widow (2021). I had so much fun modeling, printing and painting these! The LEDs are the icing on the cake, and for these I engineered the interior of the batons, so I can detach the batteries and change the LEDs anytime I want to. Go to my 3D post for the full explanation.

I painted them using Imperial Surface Alumaluster and Alclad II paints, 2K automotive clear and airbursh/touch up gun. But the real stars of the show are the custom masking tools I designed to make painting a thousand times faster and cleaner. I hate using masking tape, so this was a total breakthrough for me, and I'm looking forward to experimenting and exploiting the full potential of masking tools.
If you want to know more about the paintjob, have a look at the YouTube Workshops I did a week ago!

I cannot wait for the movie, these props are some of my favourites from the MCU.

LED action! They act as tasers in the movie, so I figured I would give it my own spin.

I weathered them with oil paints and naptha, alcohol inks and other techniques of my own.

I isolated each of the metallic finishes thanks to my masking tools. They took a second to put on/take off.

I absolutely love giving printed pieces the machined look, achieveing that extra realism. I made my own tools and attatchments for my drill to achieve these, and applied them in various stages of painting.
