3D Printable Winter Soldier Arm Mold. New molding technique.

Here are some of the renders I took during the process of modeling my Winter Soldier Arm. Like it says in the title, I came up with a new molding and casting technique, never before seen. It started with a rough idea I had for creating the Thor Scale Armor, but I drastically developed and perfected it to make this arm.

Imagine that you could make a mold and a finished cast all at once. Imagine if they were the same thing.

The final arm is a platinum silicone cast, with a gradient in hardness, to allow for perfect mobility. It is lined with spandex or/and powermesh.

The hand went through 6 different iterations, and I am only showing you the first one here. As you can see, its your typical jacket mold with a few injection holes. The idea was to test a rough first hand glove, making a mold in silicone or urethane rubber, and then casting in urethane rubber or silicone.

I also learned and discovered a way to chrome platinum silicone using Alumaluster, after two years of trying different methods. The reason why I have chosen to use silicone rather than urethane rubber, is because silicone moves way better and is non toxic. And now that it can be chromed, there is no excuse.

I wish I could show you the current state of the molds, after all the iterations, but this is something I have decided to keep for myself until I feel ready to show it to the world. I have faith that this technique will be revolutionary, since it has the potential to save so much in materials, more environment friendly, less machinery involved, less steps, more control over the finished piece, etc.

Making the winter soldier arm was a perfect excuse to develop these new ideas. I will soon post proper pictures and videos of the finished arm and glove.

I prefer to model my own jacket molds rather than using fiberglass. It is cleaner, non-toxic and I have more control. This is just the first of six iterations of the hand mold.
